Fracture Care

Comprehensive Care for Broken Bones

At Golden State Orthopedics & Spine, we diagnose and treat all types of fractures, from simple breaks to complex injuries. A fracture, commonly called a broken bone, occurs when excessive force—such as a fall, blow, or accident—causes a bone to crack or break. In some cases, conditions like osteoporosis or cancer can weaken bones, leading to pathologic fractures that happen with minimal force.

Whether caused by trauma, overuse, or underlying medical conditions, fractures require prompt attention to ensure proper healing and prevent complications. Our team provides personalized care to help you recover fully and return to your normal activities.

When Should I Seek Treatment From a Fracture Care Doctor?

Not all fractures require surgery, but delaying care can increase the risk of long-term complications. Our fracture doctors evaluate each patient individually and recommend the most effective, least invasive approach possible.

Individuals experiencing a fracture may notice symptoms such as:

  • Intense or persistent pain
  • Swelling, bruising, or tenderness
  • Visible deformity or abnormal position of a limb
  • Difficulty moving or using the affected body part
  • Inability to bear weight (for leg or foot fractures)
  • Pain that worsens with activity and improves with rest (stress fractures)

We treat a variety of fractures, including:

  • Closed fracture: The bone is broken, but the skin covering it remains intact.
  • Open fracture (compound): The broken bone pushes through the skin.
  • Displaced fracture: The bone breaks into two or more pieces and no longer lines up properly, often requiring surgery.
  • Non-displaced fracture: The bone is cracked or broken but stays in its correct alignment.
  • Comminuted fracture: The bone is shattered into three or more fragments, usually from severe trauma.
  • Greenstick fracture: The bone bends and partially breaks, a pattern most often seen in children.
  • Stress fracture: A small, hairline crack that develops from repetitive stress or overuse.
  • Pathologic fracture: A break that occurs in a bone weakened by an underlying condition, such as osteoporosis or cancer.
