Matthew Pecci, MD

Dr. Matthew Pecci is a Sports Medicine Specialist with a background in Family Medicine. As a Primary Care Physician, he has a very patient-centered approach to care. He believes in ensuring his patients fully understand their diagnoses and treatment options, and have time to ask all of their questions so they can make an informed decision about care. Dr. Pecci understands how injuries or illness can affect not only a patient’s health but also can have a serious impact on them physically, socially, and emotionally.

Dr. Pecci treats patients of all ages with all types of injuries and illnesses. He has particular expertise in orthopedic and musculoskeletal issues and using surgery alternatives to support patient treatment, as well as medical aspects of sports medicine including concussion management, nutrition and training issues, and medical conditions which can affect exercise and sports participation.

Dr. Pecci enjoys volunteering his time to help with sports medicine education and providing sports medicine care in the local community. He strives to have a positive impact on and be an integral part of the sports community in the area. He also founded and worked as the Director of Boston University’s Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship as well as the Director of the sports medicine and orthopedic curricula for the Boston Medical Center Family Medicine Residency.

In his personal life, his greatest joy is his wife and three children. He enjoys playing basketball, golf and running, but currently gets his biggest sports thrill from coaching his children’s youth sports teams. Dr. Pecci is a huge Boston sports fan and enjoys watching Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics games with his sons.
