My Comeback Story: John R.

My road to recovery.
I had an injury stemming from throwing ball for my 85 lbs German Shepherd. He barreled through my left knee at an angle which ended up severing my ACL, tearing my Meniscus, and spraining my MCL. After the staff at GSOS performed an MRI on my knee, they highly recommended that I get surgery for the repairs needed. My doctor (Dr.Porter) had discussed with me my options and risks. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with my questions and helped me understand the gravity of this situation, but also allowed me to make the correct decisions by showing me options and explaining both the benefits and the risks. He suggested that I should get second or even third medical assessments. But after actually seeing the MRI, I decided to go ahead with the surgery as he was very transparent, and knowledgeable, and experienced with this procedure and was giving me multiple options that might have led me elsewhere for the surgery. His integrity spoke louder than doubt. He gave me plenty of time to prepare or halt the process. When it was time for me to actually arrive and get ready for the surgery, his team comforted me with their support, encouragement, and knowledge. I was treated very well and felt like a family member. They put me under general anesthesia, and next I knew.., I woke up having been through a very successful surgery and getting ready for recovery. After the surgery, he was there personally to see me revived and coherent. He gave me some instructions verbally but reminded me that his staff would give me the same information on paper to refer to. I met up with him later in a follow up session and he was there to assess my progress and offer some support and advice for the care of my knee. He was very professional and caring. He went, (in my opinion) above and beyond to help me with the surgery and this post surgery care and informative discussion. Dr. Anthony Porter is absolutely amazing. I cannot endorse him enough for the amount of good that he provides for patients. Thank you very much Dr. Porter.
