Wesley Yeung is a board-certified physician assistant working in collaboration with Dr. Hany Elrashidy in providing exceptional sports medicine care, with a special focus on the shoulders and knees. He plays a key role in evaluating and diagnosing patients through musculoskeletal examinations and advanced imaging. He then follows up by working with his patients in developing personalized treatment programs to maximize recovery be it through medicines, joint and tendon injections with and without ultrasound guidance, reductions of non-complex fractures and dislocations, or assisting in the operating theater itself.
“I guide people through their conditions and partner with them in treating, rehabilitating, and preventing injuries so they can live their life to the fullest” expresses Wesley. He advocates for his patients’ health and safety while also providing the best options and treatment plans. He delivers evidence-based medicine while remaining alert for new developments and state-of-the-art advancements in order to help patients achieve their recovery goals. “I am very forthcoming in my approach and aim to earn respect from my patients through diligence, results, and clear communication.”
Wesley previously worked as a Hospital Corpsman with the Navy and Marine Corps functioning as a medic for the first few years of his military career before spending the remainder of his nearly decade-long service as a surgical technologist. He eventually transitioned back to being a civilian and worked at Stanford Hospital while attending undergrad before receiving his advanced medical education and training at the renowned Duke University where the PA profession was founded. He was honored during this time by being made a member of the Eugene A. Stead Society.
Outside of his medical practice, Wesley loves spending time with his wife and their young daughter. Wesley also gets an adrenaline rush through adventure motorcycling, mountain/road biking, open-water diving, motorsports, and camping/bushcraft. “I enjoy working on my own motorcycles, cars, and bicycles,” he proclaims. “This is one of the many reasons why I am passionate about orthopedics; I love working with my hands, fixing things, and seeing immediate improvement.”
A highly decorated sailor, Wesley has earned numerous awards including, but not limited to, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Rifle and Pistol Marksmanship Ribbons.
