Dr. Moorthy clearly explained my options for each of two series of visits I had with him for a repeat fracture in my foot. There is no pressure for any one outcome but a clear explanation of alternatives and possible results. His office has x-ray facilities also so you're not traveling to other sites unless you need more extensive scans. When I chose surgery after the second fracture, it went extremely well and I had minimal pain or complications. I'm incredibly pleased to have found Dr. Moorthy and his team. I highly recommend him for orthopedic needs.

I had a serious calcaneus fracture. Dr. Moorthy performed a three hour surgery on it. After more than three months, the bone is healing well. And I can start putting weight on the foot now as I was told I could at the time of surgery. Knowing what to expect in the process is very important. I would recommend him without reservation if a foot surgery is needed.

I really like Dr. Moorthy. He looked at my ankle, read an idea of what was going on, ordered and order an MRI. Once the results were received we went over all the options and weighed the pros & cons of each one. He gave me his honest opinion as well. At my surgery follow up he went over in detail what was done and showed images. He explained the process and reasoning.

Punctual, professional, and personable. The waiting area was clean and nice. Check in was pleasant and simple. I saw Dr. Moorthy in orthopedics. I really didn’t mind the drive from Modesto after my consult. Dr. Moorthy was incredibly down to earth and a good listener and communicator. He is thorough and patient in his explanations with regard to various procedures (benefits and potential risks) diagnosis, and prognosis. Dr. Moorthy is highly skilled, knowledgeable, and well respected by his colleagues. This of course means he receives numerous referrals and therefore has a pretty full schedule. That said, from the moment he walks in the door to begin the consultation his focus directed upon you, and your issues. He was punctual, friendly, and thorough. He listens patiently and provides accurate responses and information that is both easy to understand and assimilate. He must be one of those very few providers who knows that as a physician you are treating the “whole”patient - not just the symptoms. Although mine was a comp injury, I would definitely consider and recommend him should you require an Orthopedic specialist for any foot/ankle related injury.

Dr. Moorthy took his time with me. I didn’t felt rushed while I was with him. He explained his assessment well enough for me to understand. He had a plan of treatment and I appreciated that since I came from a different Ortho that didn’t even bother to look at it after my cast was taken off.

I just went through my 2nd Achilles surgery (opposite leg) with Dr. Moorthy. I had a good idea of the process since I had been through it once but he was still always willing to answer my questions and was very compassionate since he understood my path to recovery that I would have to go through again. The surgery was complete without any complications and went very smoothly. He and his team have checked in on me since the beginning and I will continue to do check ups with them through my recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Moorthy and his team for your orthopedic injuries.

Some years ago Dr Moorthy performed a successful foot surgery for me. So when my other foot developed a similar problem, I made an appointment for an office visit. After x-rays he had a diagnosis and a plan to remedy my problem. I appreciate both Dr. Moorthy’s surgical skill and the time he spent explaining the upcoming procedure.

I am so very grateful that I was referred to Dr. Moorthy for my foot surgery!  He explained the procedure precisely and provided a detailed timeline for me as well, so there were no surprises!  The surgery was surprisingly easy for me, and I did not experience much pain at all.  I was quite astonished to see how beautiful my foot looked once the cast came off!  He and his Physician's Assistant, Alyssa, are so experienced, comforting and supportive and I will definitely seek them out again for my other foot!!!

Yelp

I broke my foot back in March and required surgery to repair my 5th metatarsal. Dr Moorthy told me this would be a 3-4 month recover and it was. The surgery went well but the recovery was long and hard. However, if you follow their guidelines, do your physical therapy diligently you will reap the rewards. You cannot even see the scar on my foot. In August, I had my bunion done and this was a shorter recovery, 6 weeks. The outcome was wonderful. I was very hesitant to have my bunion done, but am so pleased I did. My foot healed very well and the bunion is gone. Dr Moorthy is a skilled outstanding surgeon. His work is flawless, he truly is a gifted surgeon. Together, he and his assistant Alyssa work incredibly well together. I cannot say enough about Alyssa. She is kind, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and will spend quality time with you at the appointments answering all your questions. Together they make a great team. This is a great practice and I high recommend Dr Moorthy if you have foot issues

Yelp

I'm so grateful to Dr. Murali Moorthy for his top-notch care. I've found him to be great listener, highly skilled and kind, positive person. I recently moved to Walnut Creek and was fortunate to find his clinic. I had a hardware removal surgery and he did a fantastic job. My stitches are really clean and healing great. I had complications with my initial surgery that was done in SF. After seeing Dr Murali I decided to have my ankle hardware removed. After just 2 weeks, I am well on my way to being free of years of chronic pain, I am moving and sleeping better, and getting stronger. He has a fantastic team. Isabel and Alyssa have been friendly and helpful, they are also very knowledgable. And to have them in one practice has been really helpful. I can't say enough great things about them! Thank you, Dr Murali!

I had foot surgery six months ago by Dr Moorthy. I’ve been seeing him about 2 years. He injected my foot with cortisone a couple of times which helped my discomfort. But he was also honest with me that I’d need surgical repair at some point. In October mid pandemic he and I both decided it was time. I have to share that the entire process I felt very supported by Dr Moorthy. I had no weight bearing for two weeks post op and in a cast for 6 weeks. The recovery wasn’t the funnest. I just saw him today post six months, I still have a little numbness and he gave me recommendations how to improve. He is smart and kind. If I had the choice again to choose him as a surgeon I would. Long story short, Dr. Moorthy seems to actually care about getting to the bottom of my 9yo son's bilateral ankle pain. He has taken so much more time with him than a previous doctor, and though we're still figuring things out, it means a great deal to us that he seems to care about getting my son better.

Yelp

Dr. Moorthy is an excellent Doctor Who cares about his patients, and is very thoughtful and his approach to a treatment plan. I have seen multiple orthopedic specialist, regular doctors, and military treatment facility doctors for arthritis, osteoporosis and multiple fractures and Dr. Moorthy Rings at the top of the list for both his kindness and compassion, time he spends with his patients, and comprehensive and thoughtful approach to ensure he is addressing patient need. Unfortunately, due to years of military and sports injuries I have chronic flareups and pain and I'm grateful to have found a doctor /surgeon who is eager to help solve problems nonsurgically, but who is someone I would trust if I do wind up needing to have surgery.

I have never left any review but I think Dr. Moorthy Murali is under-reviewed by some of the patient. He is serious, but he knows his stuff. If you break your foot, he will want him to treat you. Although I never felt that he was short, but which doctor is not? As long as he or she can treat me, I can care less. My OB is short but I love him to death.

Yelp

I am puzzled about the negative reviews for Dr. Moorthy. I found him to be a outstanding physician and a stellar surgeon. I went to see him for a torn Achilles' tendon. He went over my MRI results with me, explaining everything in great detail and answering all my questions. I never felt hurried and I found his bedside manner to be both professional and friendly. Although his demeanor is serious, he was also quick to laugh with me. His PA, Michael Garcia, is fantastic. He explained all the pre-op instructions and told me what to expect after surgery. The surgery itself went perfectly, and the Sequoia Surgical Pavilion was excellent. The nurses and staff were wonderful. I was having difficulty with my cast after about 10 days, & I was seen the day I called, within 30 minutes, to address the problem. My heel feels markedly better, but I am in a boot for another 6 weeks, so I expect full recovery will take a bit of time. Dr. Moorthy has already  ordered PT, to commence in 4 weeks.  I would recommend Dr. Moorthy to anyone. In fact, I have already done so.

Yelp

I can't believe I have never given Dr. Moorthy a review! I broke my foot in 2006 and required surgery, pins, and then removal. He is fun to get to know even though he seems serious - I loved his staff too. I was terrified of surgery, but ended up having a great experience and healed perfectly. In the beginning I did have continued pain due to the nature of the break, and we discussed fusion, but we decided to give my foot more time to heal. A surgeon who doesn't insist on operating?! I am pain free today and have run several marathons! I do feel that my foot is in excellent condition because of his expertise. Thank you Dr. Moorthy!

I severed my Anterior Tibialis tendon, mid shin, at the end of May 2016. At the ER I was sewed up but the ER doctor didn't notice the tendon was 'missing' and stitched me up without it. Two days later I went to John Muir Urgent Care to ask if it was normal that I couldn't lift my foot when I took a step and the attending doctor told me I needed to go to Muir Orthopedics immediately. At John Muir I met with Dr. Moorthy's Physician's Assistant who asked me if I could stand on my heel on the injured foot. When I couldn't (impossible to do without the tendon) he called in Dr. Moorthy who scheduled emergency surgery. I went to the Brentwood Surgery Center for surgery. I found the experience extremely pleasant. Surgery was scheduled for 8am. The facility itself is gorgeous, lots of windows, beautiful fields to look at. Inside everything is sparkling clean and new. It felt more like a nice hotel than a hospital. I have never had a surgery and I was nervous. Things went exceedingly smoothly. The anesthesiologist gently bantered with me while he administered the nerve block for my leg. The nurse who cleaned and prepped my leg was very pleasant and warm. I said goodbye to my husband as I was wheeled down the hall. The next thing I knew I was waking up and being told that surgery went very well. Originally the PA told me to expect 8 weeks in a cast and 6 months in a boot but as it turned out I was in the cast for twelve days and in a walking boot for four weeks, then a brace for eight days. Dr. Moorthy said he wanted me to get to Physical Therapy as soon as possible to begin regaining range of motion. To date it's been thirteen weeks since surgery and my scar is barely visible. In surgery, Dr. Morrthy had to 'look' for the tendon, tendons are like rubber bands and it had snapped up my leg. After surgery Dr. Moorthy had shown my husband how long the scar was because of this. I'm amazed by how cleanly the scar has healed, even my physical therapist (I go to San Ramon Valley Hospital for physical therapy) said "I can't believe how well your scar has healed." I'm working on the exercises intended to help me regain range of motion, though to watch me walk only a trained eye could see that I'm in the rehab process. (My foot angle is at a "9" when flexed, a "12" when coaxed - getting closer and closer to the "15" which is the normal foot ankle at extension. I have an appointment with Dr. Moorthy in two months for my follow up and expect to be flexing at the normal "15.") At present, the physical therapist says the nerves are firing normally and the tendon is intact and has healed completely. It's just a question of working through the swelling and massaging out the scar tissue and getting the tendon to "understand" it can extend. Dr. Moorthy did an excellent job and I appreciate his expertise more than words can say. It's amazing to have my gait back, to be walking normally, something I wasn't at all certain I would be able to do in the midst of the injury. Thank you Dr. Moorthy!

I am a retired RN. Due to my knowledge of the medical profession I am picky about my doctors. Due to arthritis I was forced to have a surgeon do a bunionectomy and second toe fusion on my right foot. Dr. Moorthy was recommended by my family practitioner. He chose to be conservative while operating, and left fusing the big toe until it was absolutely necessary. I still had flexion. Five years later it became time to do so; every second foot step caused a twinge of pain, and my back was affected by rolling out on the foot. I am pretty active for my 70+ years. I walk two miles four times a week, work out, and in the past two years have skied and scuba dove. In mid-April Dr. Moorthy fused my right big toe. He had warned me I would be in a surgical cast for two weeks then a walking cast for six weeks. No exceptions, no shorter time. He knew his stuff...and almost to the day two months after surgery off came the cast. What a miracle! Here I am, just over four months post surgery. I will be back scuba diving next week, have returned to the gym and walking several miles, back in normal shoes, and even had wedge heels on for one special evening. My foot no longer has pain in the toe and the scarring and swelling are minimal.   I can't recommend him enough. He truly has given me back my life style and ability to stay "young!"

Having foot pain on my big toe and thought it was one thing and turned out to be another. Also gave me time, never felt rushed and left feeling it was totally worth the visit. No surgery for me now but will return if it bothers me again. Also I was paying cash and everyone checked prices for me as I went through the visit. The nurses and front desk ladies are super nice as well. This doctor was referred to me by primary care and my pc also thinks very highly of Dr Moorthy.

Yelp

I have had a ongoing foot problem for years and seen multiple doctors for treatment, options which were always surgery.  I saw Dr. Moorthy and he suggested injections to control the problem as there is no permanent solution. He thoroughly explained the treatment plan and we proceeded. Both Dr. Moorthy and David Brand P.A. did a great job minimizing the discomfort associated with the injections and the results have been positive.  My entire experience has been great; from the cheerful receptionist (Sirena), to Isabel (Dr. Moorthy's nurse); and David Brand P.A. (who did some of the injections, to Dr. Moorthy who suggested the treatment. Lastly, I had done some additional research on alternative treatments for my problem prior to seeing Dr. Moorthy who gladly reviewed the literature for me. After some "phone tag" with each other, I did have the opportunity to discuss the information with him prior to scheduling an appointment. This is what I call "1st class"!

I have had an issue with my toenails from the pounding they take from running on them for years.  After guidance from Dr. Moorthy, he recommended removing the problem one so it could grow back correctly.  I was in the next day to have it removed.  The procedure was quick and relatively painless and my toe feels so much better!  I should have done this years ago!

Yelp

I am updating a previous review. Dr Moorthy  is a good guy. He gave me all the time I needed I never felt rushed  he answered all my questions and I felt I was being treated by a very good doctor he explained all my options and why something was a choice I might have to make in the future. I did realize until a few days ago that I was acquainted with his father, another very good doctor. I would recommend Dr Moorthy to my friend without hesitation I think one of the reasons some doctors get bad reviews is that the patient is in pain and the doctor is not able to wave a magic wand and make the pain go away. It may take several treatments or surgery to aliviate the pain. In my case it took an evaluation and 2 treatments to help my pain. I feel Dr Moorthy is a fine doctor and you will be happy with him

Yelp

I'm really shocked about the bad reviews here. My experience was very good. I had a lump in my ankle and was freaking out that it could be malignant. I had no wait for my appointment, I had not even finished filling out the forms at the front desk and they already called me in. Dr. Moorthy's PA David Brand came in to talk to me first at made me feel more at ease. He was very professional and easy to talk to. When Dr. Moorthy came in he also made me feel more at ease and knowing that I was very nervous he moved things along a lot faster for me and got me in for surgery quickly. The day of surgery went just as well. Everyone there was very professional and polite. I had no pain at all after surgery and had my results back in just a few days.

Yelp

After many years of being unable to wear high heels, and thinking I was just getting older, I finally saw doctor Moorthy when I began having pain even wearing flats.  After  getting an x-ray done within the facility Dr.  Moorthy diagnosed me as having bone spurs on my big toes. (Like a bunion). He explained everything. He suggested we go with a conservative approach first and started with a cortisone shot.   While it worked temporarily, after several months the pain was back.  This time he suggested surgery.  I was adverse to surgery, but being only 36 at the time I figured it would be worth avoiding a lifetime of pain.  The surgery to remove the spurs lasted less than an hour. Dr. Moorthy answered all my questions before and was there to talk to me upon awakening.  While I cursed him roundly the first few days while in post surgery pain, in a few months later I was pain free walking and now two years later I can trot about most happily in heels!  I am totally surprised by some of the prior posts.  I would see Dr. Moorthy again in a heartbeat!

Dr. Moorthy reattached all of the ligaments in my ankle several years ago - he was friendly, polite, explained things well.  Different than one of the other reviewers, I had no trouble getting the necessary paperwork for a temporary handicapped placard from him.  THe surgery was extremely successful and I am still pain free, and have been since shortly after the surgery.  I highly recommend Dr. Moorthy.
