About Dr Peatman

Helping my patients overcome their injuries and return to their active lifestyles is a special role that I consider a privilege. My talents and interests are perfectly suited to the restorative nature of orthopedics.
While at UC Berkeley, I studied philosophy in addition to my pre-medical courses. I left the area to train in Chicago in Orthopedic Surgery. I volunteered for and gained a commission in the US Navy, starting active duty immediately after the events of 9/11.
I provided orthopedic care to the US and Allied armed forces in the lower half of Italy for 2 years, based in wonderful Naples, near the Amalfi Coast. I then completed a Flight Surgery program in Aviation Medicine in Pensacola, FL. This allowed me to be the Orthopedic liaison to the aviation community in Jacksonville, FL, as well as caring for the submarine squadron in King’s Bay, GA. After 5 years of service, I chose to settle down with my family in one place, moving back to the Bay Area in 2006. I joined Webster Orthopedics, which is now Golden State.
I see patients with injuries or degenerative conditions of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as associated back and neck issues. I no longer perform surgery, rather I focus on non-surgical remedies and optimization. My patients find it refreshing that I have performed thousands of surgical procedures and therefore know the detailed pros and cons of each surgery, but I am not recruiting patients to have surgery with me. When a patient has not improved with conservative treatment, such as injections, physical therapy, bracing, medications and orthobiologics, I facilitate transferring care to the ideal surgeon in our 40+ surgeon group.
I believe every patient is unique. My philosophy is simple: I strive to find the solutions that best  meet my patients’ needs and beliefs. Additionally, I believe it is important to put my patients at ease and make it an enjoyable process.
When I have free time outside of work, I enjoy traveling and trail running races up to 100 Kilometer distances.
My staff and I want to make sure that you leave well-informed and are confident with your visit. We welcome your questions or concerns regarding your orthopedic condition.

Dr. Peatman replaced both of my hips. I know that I am in good hands. He is kind and listens to what you have to say. He discusses the treatment plan with you and he is sent from heaven to treat hurting people.

Great knee doctor. Easy to converse with, and he is very good at telling me his thought about my condition.

I wish I could give Dr Peatman and his staff 6 stars.  He always treated me with kindness and compassion and it made all the difference. His PA Brian, the imaging staff, and the front desk staff are all so kind and friendly as well.
