ABOUT
Alyssa Gee
Alyssa Gee is a dedicated physician assistant specializing in sports medicine, general orthopedics, and primary care. She supports all GSOS-WCSI providers by evaluating patients, diagnosing their needs, and crafting personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual. She is first assist in the operating room, orders necessary imaging and referrals, and collaborates with the entirety of GSOS.
“I like to make sure patients feel heard and respected,” Alyssa says. “Together, we’ll find a treatment plan that best supports their goals and journeys. I empathize with the desire to be active and the frustration that injuries cause, especially when they impair daily function and set us back in reaching our goals. I’m driven to provide clear solutions for reintegration so patients can get back to “normal”, whatever that looks like for them.”
Alyssa believes in strong patient education and advocacy. “We rarely stop to think about how much goes into physically taking on our day-to-day lives,” she says. “I feel the greatest accomplishment when a patient feels they learned something new and feels more comfortable with the plan after their appointment because they understand what’s truly going on within their own bodies.”
Education can also help prevent injuries and promote healing. Alyssa enjoys helping patients create habits that will help them sustain mobility and functionality for years to come. “I love being an advocate and partner to my patients,” she continues, “I know how frustrating it can be not knowing the outcome or how to proceed. I value having the knowledge, experience, and skills to be with that patient throughout the entirety of their journey, not stopping until they’ve gotten to a place where they feel empowered and satisfied with their outcome.”
Prior to earning her PA-C, Alyssa worked as an EMT, medical assistant in both cardiology and pediatric orthopedics, and as a fitness trainer. During her time in PA school, she earned a clinical core certificate in Orthopedics, Academic Achievement Award, and was chosen by the staff and students of Bethel University to represent the school in the Tennessee Academy of PAs (TAPA) and the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) Challenge bowl, where she competed in a trivia-like competition against all other PA schools in the country.
“When I was 10, I played professional soccer and had to get knee surgery, which is where I had my first interaction with a PA,” says Alyssa. “From that moment on, I felt motivated to work towards providing others what he had given to me — someone who would take the time to understand what my fears, goals, and questions were, and someone who cared deeply about my success. Going to PA school in Tennessee gave me medical experience in rural areas, where there was one provider for the entire city. That provider was a PA. I love this career even more after having that experience because it allows me to be adaptable and adjustable — I have a wide scope of experience and knowledge and can fill in those gaps that are absolutely crucial in healthcare, across every type of patient population.”
Alyssa was born and raised in the Bay Area and is the oldest of four sports-oriented siblings. Outside of her clinical practice, she is an AVID Bay Area sports fan (Giants, Warriors, 49ers, Earthquakes, Sharks, etc.) and loves attending these games. She also loves to go on hikes, enjoys Pilates, lifting weights, and has a well-rounded fitness routine that focuses on functionality. Furthermore, she loves to travel and try new foods, “even if the travel is right here within the Bay Area!” She enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, karaoke, trivia, and being outdoors.
