About Dr Feng

Dr. James Feng is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in fracture care, joint replacement, and complex revision surgery. He has advanced training in anterior hip replacement, robotic-assisted knee replacement, and kinematically aligned knee replacement. By offering a range of surgical techniques, he tailors treatment to restore natural motion, reduce recovery time, and help patients return to the activities they love.

Dr. Feng first discovered his passion for orthopedics as a teenager while attending a healthcare summer camp, where he watched a live-streamed total knee replacement. He was captivated by the precision and the possibility of helping patients regain their mobility. That early experience, combined with his love for working with his hands — from cars and computers to airplanes — drew him to a career in orthopedics.

He earned his undergraduate degree in biology, graduating summa cum laude from New York University, before completing his medical degree with honors at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Feng went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Beaumont Health in Michigan and is currently pursuing fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Health in Houston. Along the way, he has received numerous awards for research and education from national organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Feng enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, exploring new foods and restaurants in Oakland, and traveling together as a family. His hobbies include high-performance driving events, working on cars, flying airplanes, and exploring technology and computer programming.
