I have been treated by Dr. Abidi for many years, primarily for torn achilles tendons. He performed a surgical repair on one of my achilles tendons. In a nutshell he’s very experienced, smart and a talented surgeon as well as kind and patient. He’s willing to look at the whole patient, not just the body part he’s treating, which I appreciate. I heartily recommend him. I have found the office staff and the other practitioners, medical and physician assistants, to be top notch as well.

I fell and tore up my knee. ER said likely a sprain and give it a few weeks. I was convinced it was worse and tried to find ortho. All said no appointments for weeks. Golden state said we can get u to a PA in walnut creek tomorrow. She was on it and said pretty sure it’s torn. Got MRI a day or so later and appt with Charles Preston MD just days later. Doc Preston said u need surgery it’s torn. We will do it tomorrow. Next day I had surgery. Had first post op with PA Davis 1 week later who was reassuring and really helped with pain and function . I’m back at work after 1 month. Long way to go but I’m grateful to everyone at Golden State their diligence and skill in getting me to this point as efficiently as they have. If I had not found them, I’d still be waiting for my first appointment.

My experience was extremely professional and pleasant. After my ER visit with a broken leg on Friday 3/17/24,Dr Heywood and his team were able to get me in for a post op on Monday 3/19/24 and surgery all lined up and ready to go the next day at Dominican Hospital. Everything went very well and I am on my why to recovery!!

Dr Mensch & his team are absolutely stellar!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I have been seeing him & his PA Zac Claunch for two years for my carpal tunnel syndrome & tendinitis. And now after breaking my wrist the other day, it seems I will be a frequent flier at Golden State Orthopedics & Spine for even longer. Dr Mensch is a doc who goes above & beyond in his kindness, expertise in ortho & down to earth approach. It’s clear that he truly cares about his patients & genuinely wants to help us regain functioning & reduce pain so that we can live our fullest lives. He has a keen sense of humor & knows that as an artist, my hand functioning is very important to me — He has made every effort to help reduce my pain so that I am able to do the things I am passionate about. I am so grateful for his ability to make me feel comfortable & cared for in a medical setting. He is reassuring & supportive in my recovery with my now broken wrist on my right (dominant) hand — which is super painful. Zac, his PA-C, is super kind & compassionate as well. I feel his genuine care that my conditions improve & appreciate his humor in our visits. Zac is very knowledgable in this field too & provides excellent follow-ups for my ongoing pain in my wrists. I’ve been in the Santa Cruz area for over 15 years as a home healthcare, nurse, RN, and have found Dr. Abidi, to be one of the finest clinicians and surgeons that I have seen in my over 40 years of practice. He’s done multiple procedures on joints of mine and I find him to be a superb surgeon. Feedback is excellent and I do not ever find him in any kind of hurry to perform surgery. If it’s not warranted. Before a right hip replacement, he supported my efforts to try to rehab my way out of the need for surgery. Worked with me for six months until it became obvious that a total hip was the only way. Staff was excellent. Had me signed in expeditiously, and the wait was reasonable in the waiting room. Got checked into the room quickly and prepped to see the surgeon as well as a set of x-rays to facilitate clarifying the diagnosis.

Very nice clean , professional office. They have all the equipment needed in their office, for any tests. All specific orthopedic doctors for your injury treatments or surgeons, if surgery needed. I ended up with a foot injury, saw Dr. Paul Kim, 2 times in one month, highly recommend him for any podiatry needs. Very thorough, polite as well as educated, explained about my injury. Their staff , front and back office, have been very nice and accommodating with your needs. My husband has seen a few doctors, different specialties, surgeries, knee, shoulder and now his hip. All his previous records in the same building, office which is very convenient. x-rays, MRi's, injections all treatments all done in the same building without having to leave the building. I highly recommend this place not only for convenience but for their great staff and their specialty doctors and surgeons. ***** 5 stars.

Referred by colleague for hip replacement. Staff welcomed and check in was fast and easy. Helpful to check in online prior to visit. Have all medical cards and ID available Had Xrays onsite and reviewed immediately. Dr Abidi, explained my issue and coarse of action clearly. I will have to have a hip replacement and prepare medical clearances. Nervous and looking forward to walking without pain. Praying for great outcome! I recommend this office and team very professional and respectful. Arrive early to allow time for parking.

I have been a patient here for the past 9 years. Two total knees (Dr Reynolds). Back pain. Now back surgery by Dr Chelsea Hendow 4 months ago. Always professional and helpful! Seldom wait time is more than 10 minutes. Back surgery took a while to schedule due to ancillary offices too busy to see STAT. Not Golden State Ortho's fault. Surgery was successful, follow-up has been great.

I had a total hip replacement in May 2021. Dr. Wendy Wong was my surgeon. What she did for me is something “ Thank You” is not enough. The surgery went perfect. Her staff was better than imagined. Totally professional and caring. I felt so well taken care of. I was able to recover just using Tylenol, every 6 hours. Used 1/2 an Oxy, first night, but didn’t need it after that. I just followed my recovery instructions, which were concise and easy to follow. I am now 9 weeks post surgery. My body feels like new. My pain level is non-existent. I’m driving and doing all normal things. I highly recommend Dr. Wong and her wonderful staff for any Orthopedic needs.

Relaxed friendly staff. Starting with when I was greeted at the door everyone I came to the office, where my Temperature was taken and supplied with directions as to where to check-in. The check-in has always been low stress and I’ve never had to wait for more than a few minutes before I’ve been called back for my appointment. I really appreciative how efficiently your office is managed, My only issues have to do with procedures that I’m be sure are directly related to the difficulties of safely supplying face-to-face care during the pandemic, and may not be fixable in the near future. Firstly: The 45+ minute wait whenever I call the office is just not up to your otherwise impeccable standards. This needs to be pushed to the top of your ‘Get It Fixed Now!’ Task list! You supply top notch medical care, but this is a deal breaker. I have already told two close friends to look elsewhere for treatment, Based on your not fixing this critical problem. I would suggest; •Hire staff, temps if need be, and assign an admin team with carte Blanche to purchase equipment, computers, training, whatever it takes. And fix this quickly. Make the timeline be ideally, to have every patient to have their call picked up by a flesh and blood operator by the 4th ring. NEVER send them to voice mail. Your ‘Leave a number and we’ll call you back in the order your call was received’ is not working. People in pain, sick people call when they need help... NOW! They probably can’t get to the phone and answer your call before it goes to voice mail. And use text messages whenever possible. Liberal use of informal FaceTime and other video calls that pull in the caregivers family members would help. I only saw my surgeon Dr Preston at the initial consult and when he walked in as I was being prepped for surgery. I was surprised that he didn’t even drop in on the pre-op appointment. Was that the way it worked here even before Covid? My foot surgeon in Rhode Island (I had 6+ surgeries with Him) was always available for a consult, and he always performed every pre-op and post-op appointment. Actually, after his nurse did the prep work for every appointment, he personally managed every appointment unless he was supervising a new doctor or Physicians Assistant from Brown University Medical School. If needed, he would have me go out fir imaging and then return to the office the same day and together we would review the images. He had a dual screen display so that the patient could clearly see all the imaging as he went over it. This made it easy for me to use my iPhone to take photos of images at every appointment with him. Thus I have a dated personal record annotated with video notes from him. Very awful when I had the infections. He took pride in his work, and wanted to see first hand how I was doing. He also called me at home at least once within 24 hours after surgery to check on how I was doing. I felt I was part of the team. With covid, the only way to even approach these levels of communication is with the liberal use of the phone and FaceTime and other video chat tech Also before and after surgery, the patient Needs to be have there care giver, family member, Someone there with them to listen to what’s said by the doc before and after the procedure If they can’t be there physically, then FaceTime can fill the gaps. My partner is very knowledgeable, and we could have set up the tech As it was, I had no memory of what was said to me after the surgery, and the mass of paper instructions were of little use The sling was an absolute nightmare once it came out of adjustment and the PT didn’t arrive until the middle of the week. Again some help from the doc or others via FaceTime would have helped a lot during the initial few days. There were no resources available over the weekend and as surgery was Thursday that was an issue Oh, BTW, thank you Dr. Preston for remembering to arrange for the home health services (PT & the Home Health Aide) ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Dr. Calafi did a great job at putting Humpty Dumpty back together. He explained the procedure that he was going to do & answered all of my questions/concerns. He was instrumental in orchestrating the transfer of care from Santa Cruz ER back to John Muir ER in order to proceed with my surgery the following morning. I have had screws put in my feet, both knees replaced, right hip replaced, right thumb reattached to hand. Also given help with my broken back due to osteoporosis and scoliosis which can’t have surgery due to spinal cord being twisted and compressed in the compressions, breaks and twist from scoliosis. I can’t have surgery saw 5 surgeons, then sent to top surgeon neurologist at JMH Walnut Creek and shown on my imaging that needing a rod or two to fix my back would cause damage to my spinal cord and a great possibility of never walking again. So they keep my pain under control with PT, building up lumbar strength and medical. I see many doctors due to RA, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, scoliosis, nerve damage, AFIB, neuropathy, just to name a few. I still need left thumb reattached to hand, left shoulder full replacement and PT when needed for nerve damage and much more. I can’t give enough credit to Muir Orthopedic Specialists for their great surgeons and doctors, I came close to death a few times from other health issues and was blessed with all the care provided. I am living proof that I still am alive, walking with cane, getting help for whatever is needed and surgeons/doctors working together to let me keep going in this life. I am not totally pain free, but it’s manageable and I still enjoy life.

THE BEST! I was terrified of having hip replacement as I had never had an operation. If I didn’t know I wouldn’t know that I actually had surgery. And I was kept completely out of pain. I love Muir Orthopedic Specialists I’ve been to more than one specialist there. Dr. Sacco Has taken care of me for years. I’ve had arthroscopic surgery on both my shoulders and he has provided wonderful service to me over the past several years. Dr Sacco is a great listener and is kind and caring. Dr. Miranda is another great orthopedic surgeon if you are having problems with your knees. Dr Crow is another good surgeon. Very caring. If you need someone who can help you with back care, I recommend Dr Chang. He knows his stuff. You generally don’t have to wait too long to get an appointment to see someone.

I injured myself in March 2019 and didn’t receive the best orthopedic care at the beginning of the injury. However, once I saw Moorthy, he was able to identify the issue and start the right treatment. I did end up needing surgery March of 2020 and I’m healing now. I have several physicians at Muir Orthopaedic Specialists and truly feel that I get excellent professional information and care from each physician that I see. Recently I scheduled an appointment with a new doctor, Dr Tyler Clark for unbearable pain in my left thumb. He analyzed and evaluated my condition, sent me for X-ray to rule out any breaks & recommended a thumb brace and if that didn’t take care of it, an option of a shot. I returned weeks later, opted for the shot. Later I remembered Dr Joseph Narloch did a nerve conduction test quite a few years back which showed carpal tunnel more in my right than my left hand. Dr Clark thought probably that it was arthritis or perhaps the “CT” acting up since I’m handling a 93 yr old, the wheelchair and a husband with recent back surgery. He then recommended braces to sleep with on my hands. This remedied my pain issue completely. My follow up appointment remained as pain free! He has a delightful manner about him and I find it very easy to discuss your medical issue with him. I am confident in his care and highly recommend Dr Clark should you find the need for his excellent services.

Dr. Wendy Wong replaced my two knees. The surgery was very successful on both knees. I went home the next day from the hospital and did everything I was suppose to do for my healing process. I healed very fast and did not need to take much pain medication. She has a very sweet personality and I felt very comfortable with her. Three weeks after my second knee replacement, I fell and broke my knee cap(it was a bad fall). Dr. Wong saw me right away and made arrangements to operate within the week. I did not damage the knee replacement. She fixed my knee cap and I am now out of the brace which I had to wear for a little more than two months and I can bend my knee almost 100 degrees. I think she is amazing. She really knows what she is doing.

I highly recommend using Dr. Louay Toma if you are considering a hip replacement. I delayed and procrastinated getting my left hip replaced and did talk to several Specialists through the years. I finally made the decision to get it replaced and while a complicated surgery, Dr. Toma and his team made the whole process and procedure thorough and everything worked out extremely well. I was thrilled. Two years later following retirement and a move to another state, when it was clear that I needed the second hip replaced, I returned to California Bay Area in 2019 to have Dr. Toma perform the surgery. Everything went great and recovery was even faster and easier than the first replacement. Dr. Toma is an excellent doctor and surgeon that performs the anterior hip replacement surgery brilliantly, is very thorough, very personable and the staff is helpful and organized. Thank you so much, Doctor!

Since July 5th 2017 my lower right leg has been held together by an External Fixation 17 pins, 2 wire mechanisms from below knee to ankle. After muscle transplant succeeded, Sept 9 2017 started regrowing 5 Inches/13CM of missing Tibia bone. Today is Febuary 2 2018.... 3CM/1inch to grow... 5-6 more weeks I begin WALK PHYSICAL THERAPY. In stride like nothing happened... (ignoring the wheelchair lol) so far lol KUDOS TO MUIR ORTHOPAEDIC SPECIALISTS Redwood Office Brentwood Office too no complaints GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND YOURS

Exceptional care from Dr. Moorthy and his assistant Michael. Several visits and a MRI resulted in surgery. Surgery was scheduled at Sequoia Surgical Pavilion. Experience was very impressive. Best care ever and I can't THANK everyone enough. 11/1/16 2 week check up and Dr. Toma, asked me where is the walker or cane, LOL kicked them to the curb. He has been the answer to my 4 year prayers to STOP THE PAIN!!! If I could give 10 STARS... Hands Down #TEAM TOMA 10/31/16 my 15 year old son fell down, broke his arm and a trip to Urgent Care referred to an ortho, so as I had my 2 week check up, he was getting a cast with Dr. Tischenko (spelling sorry) Why would you go to any other ortho????

Dr. Wendy Wong has been an extraordinary blessing for my orthopedic surgical needs. From the initial consultation to completion of the recovery process Dr. Wong demonstrated so many times her great surgical skills combined with her extensive knowledge of medicine. Dr. Wong, working closely with her medical assistant Angela J., was able to replace my right hip with a minimum of stress and pain. I was alleviated excruciating pain that was becoming crippling.
