Question: What are the side effects of taking steroids?

Answer: Many people may use steroids and may not have any immediate noticeable negative side effects. But there are too many potential side effects for them to be considered safe. Some of the side effects are acne, breast development in males, mood changes, and a shutdown of your body’s normal production of testosterone. The most serious side effects are the effects on the heart, including an increase in bad cholesterol, decrease in good cholesterol, increase in blood pressure, increase in blood clotting – which can cause heart attacks and strokes – and an increase in the heart muscle size. Steroid users may not realize they have these changes until the have changes until a serious event such as a heart attack or stroke.
